How to Install on HostGator

HostGator users typically manage their sites through WordPress or the Gator Website Builder. We have provided the most robust, standard instructions for both methods below.

1Step 1: Copy Your Unique Snippet

First, you need to retrieve the unique code snippet that connects your website to our platform.

  2. 2.Navigate to the Installation or Setup tab.
  3. 3.Locate and copy your unique code snippet. It should look exactly like this:

2Step 2: Add the Code to Your Site

Option A: For WordPress Users (Most Common)

If your site is powered by WordPress, we recommend using the WPCode plugin. This is the safest way to inject scripts without manually editing theme files or risking errors during theme updates.

  1. 1.Log in to your WordPress Admin panel (accessible via your HostGator Customer Portal or `yourdomain.com/wp-admin`).
  2. 2.On the left-hand sidebar, go to Plugins > Add New.
  3. 3.Search for "WPCode" and click Install Now, then Activate.
  4. 4.Navigate to the new Code Snippets menu in your sidebar and select Header & Footer.
  5. 5.Paste your unique snippet into the Footer box.
  6. 6.Click Save Changes.

Option B: For Gator Website Builder Users

If you are using HostGator's drag-and-drop "Gator" builder:

  1. 1.Open the Gator Builder from your HostGator dashboard.
  2. 2.In the left-hand menu, click on Manage and then select Settings.
  3. 3.Click on the Google Analytics & Tracking or Advanced tab.
  4. 4.Locate the section for Header HTML or Footer HTML.
  5. 5.Paste your unique Bizfinder.ai snippet into the text area.
  6. 6.Click Save and then click Publish at the top of the editor to push the changes live.
Placing the script in the Footer ensures your page content loads first for optimal speed.

3Step 3: Verify Your Installation

Now that the code is embedded and published, let's make sure your AI assistant is ready to welcome your customers.

  1. 1.Open your live website in a new browser window.
  2. 2.Refresh the page.
  3. 3.Look for the Preview Assistant icon appearing in the bottom corner of your screen (usually the bottom right).
  4. 4.Click the icon to test the interface. If the chat window opens, your installation is successful!
